Altea has just a gem of an old town perched on the hilltop and provides the back drop for one of the most emblamatic viewa of the region – the blue domed roof of the Altea church. Popular for picturesque white houses and small, cobbled streets, Altea is rated as one of the 5 prettiest towns in all of Spain. There is a thriving arts, crafts and design culture here, which can be witnessed by the abundance of shops, studios and galleries. In the heart of the old town is a beautiful square surrounding the Virgen de Consuelo Church, with its striking blue dome.
Just downhill from the old town you will find approx 5km of beach and shoreline, divided into several attractive pebble beaches. Here you have a long boulevard and promenade connecting a nautical club, beaches and harbour. You will also find more-upmarket boutiques and restaurants which are abundant in this town! Altea has a mild micro climate, courtesy of being shielded by the mountain ranges of the Sierra Helada to the South and the Sierra Bernia to the North.
