Benidorm is the undisputed tourist centre of the Costa Blanca. It is the second largest city (only after Alicante) and does have high rise towers, but there is more to it. The old town is bustling, but you won't really notice the towers you can see from the motorway. Here you will find great shopping and dining opportunities. The famous “tapas alley” is great fun and extremely varied with so many tapas bars competing for your business, the prices are great!
The beaches are vast and sandy, they cover about 3 miles. The Levante beach to the east is the busier of the two. Poniente beach is slightly quieter on the west of town. Further west of Poniente is Cala Finestrat. Just outside of Benidorm, it is quieter still with a more sedate beachside restaurant atmosphere. Benidorm has 5 theme parks and water parks, an aquarium and a zoo, so there is a lot for kids and families. A large golf club/spa resort Villaitana actually has two 18-hole courses.
